The Hawks announced that Banks — an actor, comedian, podcaster, and entrepreneur — will serve as the special in-arena host for the evening. Known for his hilarious sketches and sharp storytelling, Banks will keep the energy high throughout the game, delivering laughs and engaging fans in true ATL style.
Fans can look forward to the premiere of an exclusive video skit from Banks on the arena’s centerhung scoreboard, plus a special halftime performance designed to celebrate Atlanta’s vibrant culture and comedy scene. It’s a fresh spin on in-game entertainment, highlighting Banks’ creative flair and connection to the city.
“I can’t wait to team up with the Hawks and bring some laughs to my hometown crowd,” said Banks. “It’s an honor to own the first-of-its-kind night with the Hawks — a night full of entertainment, good vibes, and a whole lot of ATL energy! We’re turning game night into something special for the city.”
Born and raised in Atlanta, Desi Banks has become one of comedy’s fastest-rising stars, blending his Southern roots and real-life experiences into relatable humor. His path from social media sketches to national tours has made him a fan favorite not just in the South, but across the country.
With more than 19 million followers across platforms, Banks has built a media empire as the CEO of Desi Banks Productions, creating over 3,500 original videos and paving the way for new comedic talent. His 2024 “Purpose Chaser Tour” sold out venues in more than 50 cities, following appearances alongside comedy legends like Mike Epps, Kountry Wayne, and Martin Lawrence.
He’s been praised by Kevin Hart as the “next great” comedian and even starred in a Super Bowl commercial, further cementing his mainstream appeal. On screen, Banks has appeared in films such as Little, Merry Wish-Mas, Haunted Trail, and One of Them Days.
This collaboration with the Hawks continues the team’s push to blend entertainment and basketball into unforgettable fan experiences. The Hawks’ 2024 season home opener featured a halftime show by Quavo, while previous lineups have included performances by Gucci Mane, Goodie Mob, Jagged Edge, Keith Sweat, Lakeyah, and Mariah the Scientist.
Adding to the excitement, the first 5,000 fans to enter the arena will receive an exclusive Dyson Daniels bobblehead, a collectible souvenir from the night.
