José Eduardo Derbez Leads ViX’s New Fantasy Comedy Infelices Para Siempre Filming in Spain

The upcoming ViX original series Infelices Para Siempre is currently in production across multiple locations in Spain, marking another big step for ViX and TelevisaUnivision as they expand their original Spanish-language lineup beyond Latin America.

The new show, a fantasy romantic comedy, stars José Eduardo Derbez, Sofía Castro, and Consuelo Duval, with filming officially underway under the direction of Pitipol Ybarra.

The series is being produced by Onza TV, the Spanish production company known for its hit El Ministerio del Tiempo (The Ministry of Time).

The story centers on Sebastián (played by José Eduardo Derbez), a man who lands his dream job as manager of the Hotel Amalaya del Río, once a glamorous seaside resort that has seen better days. With his quirky but endearing team, Sebastián sets out to restore the hotel’s lost glory. However, his life takes a magical turn when he encounters a mysterious little girl dressed as a fairy who can grant wishes. Suddenly, Sebastián gains the same power—and what follows is a mix of magical mishaps, heartfelt lessons, and plenty of humor.

The plot explores how Sebastián learns that true success isn’t about being the best manager or achieving personal fame but about helping others find happiness. The combination of fantasy and comedy gives the show a lighthearted but uplifting tone, something ViX has been leaning into with its growing library of originals.

The cast of Infelices Para Siempre is stacked with familiar names from both Mexican television and film. Alongside Derbez, Castro, and Duval, the ensemble includes Yare Santana, Javier Ibarreche, Mónica del Carmen, Harold Azuara, Ofelia Medina, Luz Aldán, Mauricio Garza, Ricardo Fastlicht, and Michael Ronda. The series was created by Jorge Aragón and Adriana Pelusi, who also co-wrote the 2023 film of the same name, and is directed by Pitipol Ybarra.

While this new ViX series shares its name and certain fantastical elements with the 2023 Mexican film Infelices Para Siempre, the storyline is completely different. The original movie, directed by Noé Santillán-López and starring Adrián Uribe, Consuelo Duval, Angélica Aragón, and Livia Brito, followed a married couple trapped in a time loop on their anniversary, forced to relive the same day until they rediscover their love. The film was one of the highest-grossing Mexican films in the post-pandemic period.

In contrast, the ViX series reimagines the title through a new premise about magic, happiness, and personal growth set within the charming chaos of a seaside hotel. According to TelevisaUnivision’s official announcement, the production is currently ongoing in Spain, with no confirmed release date yet. Industry outlet PRODU also reported that filming started in early November 2025 and will take place at various locations across the country.

This production marks another milestone for ViX as it continues to push for international productions and broaden the scope of Spanish-language streaming content.

With a mix of fantasy, comedy, and a heartfelt message, Infelices Para Siempre is shaping up to be one of ViX’s most anticipated original series yet—bringing together a stellar cast, an experienced creative team, and a touch of magic that audiences will likely find irresistible.
