Bowling Green’s No Laugh Left Behind Comedy Show Brings Community Together to Support Veterans
Don’s House of Comedy is gearing up for a meaningful and fun-filled evening with its No Laugh Left Behind comedy show and silent auction, an event created to honor veterans while bringing the Bowling Green community together. The fundraiser will take place on November 16, running from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and will be hosted at White Squirrel Brewery in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Tickets are available through donscomedy.com for anyone who wants to take part in the cause and enjoy a night of laughter.
The idea behind Don’s House of Comedy came from Janese Cleary, who launched the comedy club about four years ago in memory of her late husband, Don, a Vietnam veteran. Janese has shared that Don had a deep love for comedy, and creating a comedy-focused space became her way of celebrating his life. She described it simply: she wanted to find a way to honor him, and naming a comedy club after him felt like the perfect tribute. The upcoming show continues that mission, connecting humor with heartfelt purpose.
This year’s event is also a key fundraiser for SOKY Patriots, a local nonprofit dedicated to supporting veterans, patriots, and civilians with disabilities. The organization focuses on providing essential resources such as mobility aids, accessibility support, therapy opportunities, and various forms of practical assistance. Their mission and programs can be explored further at sokypatriots.org. All proceeds from the comedy show and silent auction will go directly toward helping the group continue its outreach across southern Kentucky.
The venue, White Squirrel Brewery, has become a familiar home for Don’s House of Comedy events. Co-owner Sean Stevens expressed enthusiasm when Janese approached him about hosting the fundraiser. Given the recent Veterans Day observance and his own family’s military background—his father a veteran and his brother currently serving—he felt the event was an obvious fit. Stevens also mentioned that he and Janese have collaborated frequently, making this partnership feel natural and meaningful.
Service One Credit Union is another key supporter of the event. Jennifer Martin, the VP of Marketing and Community Development, shared that their team played a role in helping organize the lineup for the evening. She emphasized that the credit union values community impact, and supporting veterans in a way that blends purpose with humor made this event especially appealing.
Along with the comedy performances, attendees will be able to participate in a silent auction, adding another layer to the fundraising effort. Previous events have included donated items from local businesses, handcrafted goods, and unique experiences—making it both a fun and beneficial addition to the night.
Tickets for the show are open to the public, and the event welcomes anyone 18 and older, with those 21 and over permitted to purchase drinks. For a direct way to support a local cause, enjoy an evening out, and honor Kentucky veterans, this event offers a clear and engaging opportunity.
