Dave Chappelle Set to Open the New Punch Line Comedy Club in Irving This December
The Punch Line Comedy Club, a legendary name in stand-up since its founding in 1978, is officially making its Dallas–Fort Worth debut this December at the Toyota Music Factory in Irving. And to kick things off with serious star power, the new venue will open with four shows featuring Dave Chappelle on December 17 and 18. Chappelle, who has famously referred to Punch Line as “sacred ground,” also helped launch the brand’s Houston location in 2024 with a multi-night run, making his return a full-circle moment for fans of both the comedian and the venue.
The new Punch Line Irving marks the fifth location in the Punch Line family, joining established clubs in San Francisco, Sacramento, Philadelphia, and Houston. Known for intimate rooms and high-energy performances, Punch Line has built a reputation as a place where major comedians perform, rising comics sharpen their skills, and fans get an up-close experience you won’t find in large theaters. The Irving venue will seat 240 guests, continuing the brand’s commitment to creating a tightly packed room where audiences feel directly connected to the performer.
Tickets for Chappelle’s opening shows will first be available through a presale beginning Wednesday, November 19 at 11 a.m. Fans can access this presale by joining the club’s text group—simply text “LAUGH” to +1-469-382-5858. The general on-sale begins at 12 p.m. the same day. Tickets will be available on the official website at punchlineirving.com.
Amanda Kyser, head of operations for Punch Line Comedy Clubs, expressed excitement about welcoming Chappelle back, noting that his presence sets the tone for what the venue aims to achieve in Irving. She highlighted that Punch Line has long been a place where comedians “start, grow and return,” and the new location is expected to carry that tradition forward in North Texas.
Punch Line Irving is gearing up to be more than just a stage for headliners. The venue plans to host over 350 shows annually, ensuring a packed calendar of local, national, and emerging comedic talent. As part of its commitment to supporting the comedy community, the club will also introduce its first open mics in early December. Comics hoping to participate will simply need to bring two nonperishable food items, which will be donated to the North Texas Food Bank, adding a charitable layer to the club’s launch.
Fans looking beyond opening week will find plenty to look forward to. Punch Line Irving already has a slate of upcoming shows on sale, featuring well-known names such as Leslie Jones, Andy Huggins, and Steph Tolev, with additional acts scheduled through the following year. The full lineup is available through the club’s official site and ticketing pages.
With its history, intimate setup, strong community focus, and a major opening act like Dave Chappelle, Punch Line Irving is positioning itself as a new powerhouse in the Dallas–Fort Worth comedy scene, offering locals a dedicated hub for laughs, talent, and memorable nights out.
