The new fantasy-romantic comedy Eternity is making waves after film critic Lauren Veneziani sat down with stars Elizabeth Olsen, Miles Teller, and Callum Turner to discuss its unusual afterlife premise and the ages they would choose to be for all of eternity. The movie introduces a world where, after death, people arrive in an afterlife space and have one week to decide which version of eternity they want and what age they want to appear as forever.

In the film, Elizabeth Olsen plays Joan, a woman who dies and finds herself reunited with two husbands from different chapters of her life. Her first husband, played by Callum Turner, died in war decades earlier, and her second husband, played by Miles Teller, is the partner she built a life with afterward. Joan must make the difficult decision of choosing which man she wants to spend all of eternity with.

Veneziani, known online as DC Film Girl and available on social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube (search DC Film Girl), praised the film as one of the most original romantic comedies of the decade and gave it four and a half out of five stars. She described its cinematography as beautiful, its humor as fresh, and its approach to romance as deeply moving, recommending that audiences see it in theaters.

During her interview, Veneziani asked the cast what age they would choose if the afterlife allowed them to appear at the age when they were happiest. Elizabeth Olsen said she would choose her current age, explaining that she is the happiest she has ever been and enjoys the process of aging. She also added that the ability to keep aging and seeing where life leads matters to her, provided her physical health remains strong.

Callum Turner gave a more playful response, saying he liked the idea of being older and seeing what life might feel like at age 80, but noted that staying healthy would be important. He shared that he appreciates the journey of aging and would like the chance to see who he becomes.

Miles Teller reflected on his relationship with his wife, Keleigh Teller, and said each year has brought them closer. In a lighter moment, he recalled ages 11, 13, and 17 as standout years from his youth and joked about having “peaked at 12.” He remembered being 11 and feeling like he had life “figured out,” prompting laughter from the group.

Veneziani also highlighted other major releases arriving in theaters and streaming platforms. She discussed Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, arriving on Netflix on December 12, noting that the film brings back Daniel Craig as detective Benoit Blanc and features a star-studded cast including Glenn Close, Kerry Washington, Mila Kunis, Josh Brolin, and Jeremy Renner. She rated it four out of five stars, praising its humor, suspense, and return to the campy energy of the original Knives Out.

Another recommendation was Hamnet, a film inspired by the novel of the same name, starring Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley. Veneziani called it one of the most emotional films of the year and praised Buckley’s performance as a grieving mother, predicting she may be the Best Actress frontrunner. Hamnet expands nationwide on December 5 and is directed by Chloé Zhao, known for her strong visual storytelling.

In addition to these films, Veneziani mentioned ongoing releases such as Predator: Badlands, Zootopia 2, and the final season of Stranger Things. She shared her excitement about rewatching the series and noted the cultural buzz surrounding its return.
