RuPaul’s New Action Comedy STOP! THAT! TRAIN! Sets Its Title and 2026 Release Date
Adam Shankman’s upcoming drag-filled action comedy has officially been titled STOP! THAT! TRAIN!, and it’s gearing up for a North American theatrical release on May 29, 2026. The movie is being distributed domestically by Bleecker Street, with Universal Pictures Content Group managing international distribution.
The film stars RuPaul Charles as President Gagwell, marking a major expansion of the RuPaul’s Drag Race universe into feature-film territory. Production on the movie has already wrapped in Los Angeles, confirming that the project is moving steadily toward its 2026 release.
The cast is packed with Drag Race icons, including Ginger Minj, Jujubee, Brooke Lynn Hytes, Latrice Royale, Marcia Marcia Marcia, Monét X Change, and Symone. Their roles place them in a chaotic, camp-heavy world set aboard a high-speed train at the center of the story.
According to a synopsis shared by the producers at World of Wonder, the movie follows best friends Tess (played by Minj) and DeeDee (played by Jujubee). The duo works as train stewardesses stuck on the dreary Stank Rail, but they jump at the chance to transfer to the glamorous Glamazonian Express.
Their dream upgrade quickly turns disastrous when a catastrophic weather event known as a “Stormganza” threatens to derail the train. Tess and DeeDee must join forces with a group of snobby first-class attendants—portrayed by Brooke Lynn Hytes, Marcia Marcia Marcia, and Symone—along with President Gagwell, to save the passengers and restore order.
Director Adam Shankman, known for films like Hairspray, shared his excitement about the project, saying he had the “greatest time” working with the cast. He added that audiences can expect a blend of camp and high-energy comedy, noting that if viewers aren’t “howling” during the movie, they might be “made of coal and possibly a descendant of the Grinch family.”
The script for STOP! THAT! TRAIN! is written by Connor Wright and Christina Friel, bringing together a mix of comedy, drag culture, and action. The project is financed and executive-produced by Unapologetic Projects, while the main producers include Fenton Bailey, Randy Barbato, Tom Campbell, RuPaul Charles, and Adam Shankman—the core team behind the global Drag Race franchise.
Bleecker Street’s upcoming slate confirms the film’s planned 2026 release, which you can see highlighted on the List of Bleecker Street Films. Additional production details and casting confirmations have been reported by outlets such as Screen Daily and LGBTQ+ entertainment platforms like Gayety.
With a stacked cast of drag legends, a camp-disaster storyline, and Shankman’s flair for stylized comedy, STOP! THAT! TRAIN! is positioning itself as one of 2026’s most unique theatrical releases. Fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race and lovers of outrageous genre mash-ups will likely have this one marked on their calendars well in advance.
