Mindy Kaling’s Hulu Comedy Not Suitable for Work Adds 12 New Guest Stars to Its Expanding Cast

Mindy Kaling’s upcoming Hulu comedy Not Suitable for Work is shaping up to be one of the most star-packed series in her creative lineup. The show has now added 12 recurring guest stars, joining an already impressive ensemble led by Ella Hunt, Avantika Vandanapu, Will Angus, Jack Martin, and Nicholas Duvernay, with Jay Ellis also confirmed to appear.

Created by Mindy Kaling and executive produced alongside Charlie Grandy, the series is being produced by Kaling International in association with Warner Bros. Television, where both Kaling and Grandy have overall deals. According to Deadline and Cinema Express, the show follows five work-obsessed twenty-somethings striving for success—and some semblance of happiness—while navigating professional and personal chaos in Manhattan’s upscale Murray Hill neighborhood.

The newly announced cast members bring a variety of personalities and professional backdrops to the mix. Victor Garber will play Wes Dryden, the sharp and seasoned host of a prestigious investigative journalism show. Greg Germann takes on the role of David Teitelbaum, Josh’s powerful father and the chairman of a major media conglomerate. Judy Gold appears as Paula, a veteran producer on the Wes Dryden show, while Ego Nwodim joins as Kate Woodson, the Assistant Head of School at an elite all-girls private school in Manhattan.

Harry Richardson portrays Austin Blanchett, a movie star and self-described internet boyfriend, and Constance Wu steps into the role of Vanessa Hsu, a high-strung and demanding celebrity stylist. Laura Bell Bundy has been cast as Amy Pascarelli, the mother of A.J. (played by Ella Hunt). Stella Everett plays Vivian, Josh’s social-worker girlfriend who’s proud of her career and ideals.

In the corporate world, May Hong plays Jocelyn, an associate at the New York investment bank Fisher Stassen, while Bhavesh Patel plays Dileep, a vice president at the same firm. Emilia Suárez joins as Elena, a capable intern working on the Wes Dryden show, and Michael Benjamin Washington rounds out the new additions as Antoine, a landlord with dreams of becoming a dancer.

Each of the newly added actors comes with an impressive résumé:

  • Garber is known for Alias and Titanic.
  • Germann from Grey’s Anatomy and 57 Seconds.
  • Gold from Better Things and City on a Hill.
  • Nwodim from Saturday Night Live and Miracle Workers.
  • Richardson from The Gilded Age and Doctor Thorne.
  • Wu from Fresh Off the Boat and Crazy Rich Asians.
  • Bell Bundy from Call Me Kat and Scream Queens.
  • Everett from Running Point.
  • Hong from KPop Demon Hunters and Full Circle.
  • Patel from FBI: Most Wanted and Chicago PD.
  • Suárez from Dexter: Resurrection and Up Here.
  • Washington from Godfather of Harlem and American Auto.

While Hulu has yet to announce a release date, the project’s large-scale casting suggests it’s moving steadily through production. The show’s mix of Manhattan workplaces—from media to finance to celebrity culture—hints at a layered, modern take on ambition, identity, and relationships among young professionals.

Not Suitable for Work is expected to continue Kaling’s streak of character-driven, sharply observed comedies, adding another ambitious entry to her growing partnership with Hulu. Fans can expect more updates and possibly a trailer as the series moves closer to its premiere.
